Listing status
Why a listing was held
What held, paused, hidden, and removed mean, and how to ask for another look.
What each state means
A listing that is not public is in one of a few states, and they are not the same thing.
- Paused: the listing is not shown for now. A seller can pause and republish their own listing.
- Held for review: a person needs to look at it before it goes public again.
- Hidden: staff acted on the listing after a review.
- Removed or sold: the listing is finished and is not coming back.
Why it can happen
A listing or a comment can be held automatically when it matches a safety rule, or after someone reports it.
- Automatic checks look for contact details, payment requests, and restricted items.
- Being held is not an accusation — it means a human has not looked yet.
- The notification you receive says which rule was matched and in plain words why.
Asking for another look
Every moderation notification links to the appeal form, and the appeal goes to a person.
- Open the notification and follow the appeal link, or go to the appeal form directly.
- Explain what you think was misread, and correct the listing if that is the issue.
- You can see the reason recorded for your own decision; other people's details are not shown.
